I have spoken at many events throughout the years, from fundraisers to support groups to business groups. It’s easy to speak about something you know and what I know is how to accomplish things despite having a disability.
I am able to speak on a particular topic such as starting a business, traveling with a disability, or just everyday life. Whatever the topic I can usually come up with something motivating. I also think it’s important to field questions or topics relevant to the audience so I like to ask for questions as well.
I do not charge a fee for speaking, however, if travel is required I would ask for reimbursement for flights or gas and modest accommodations if an overnight stay is necessary. If I am planning on being in your area, then this is not necessary.
